1. The difference between Media in Education vs. Media Literacy Education is: Media in Ed. is the use of Youtube, Movies, and music to help teach a lesson or to show a point. Media Literacy Ed. is using a whole movie or something along those lines to entertain the students.
2. We as a society give limited property rights to creators to encourage them to produce culture; at the same time, we give other creators the chance to use that same copyrighted material, without permission or payment, in some circumstances: Is the social bargain at the hear of Fair Use
3. Fair use is important today because, it keeps the Copyright people from, disobeying the First Amendment.
4.The two key questions that Judges use to determine Fair Use:
1.Did the unlicensed use “transform” the material taken from the copyrighted work
by using it for a different purpose than that of the original, or did it just repeat
the work for the same intent and value as the original?
2. Was the material taken appropriate in kind and amount, considering the nature
of the copyrighted work and of the use?
5. When a teacher shows "The Lion King" and asks students to notice how the animals in the movie reflect racial stereotypes. it is fair use because, the teacher is using the movies to teach the students about racial stereotypes and how they are wrong. You shouldn't judge someone by their race.
6.The principal that relates most strongly to my digital story is number four, Student use of Copyrighted material in their own Academic and creative work, because the pictures I used were material for my creative work for this class.
7. Yes, there limitations to the amount of pictures, length of music, or video that can be used in a multimedia project.
8. No, you need to request permission from the original creator in order to use copyrighted material in multimedia project for school related assignment.
9. Yes, should educators try to change the policies in their school if they are not in line with Fair Use doctrine, because they don't want to get in trouble.
10. The thing that surprised me the most about the Fair Use is, the length of time you can use or pictures, music, and videos.
